Barbara Santhouse

Barbara "Barb" Evelyn (Hughes) Santhouse, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on January 1st, 2024 at the age of 88 in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Barbara was born on April 24, 1935, in Paterson, New Jersey to the late William and Edith (Almond) Hughes as their only child. She attended Paterson Central High school class of 1952. There she grew a love for swimming and playing the accordion, she also was a part of the financial club. Following graduation she furthered her education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she met the love of her life, Robert Thomas Santhouse of Totowa Borough, New Jersey while tutoring him. They got Married April 1955 and became original home owners in Levittown, Pennsylvania. They had a beautiful family of five all within ten years. These were the best years for their family because she wasn't suffering as much from Bi-Polar disorder. The family loved to travel and camp together. Throughout their lives Barbara faithfully taught her loving children the important seeds of faith in Jesus Christ. Barb enjoyed the simple beauties in life. She loved the arts, Barbara was very artistic. She was drawn to all things creative, singing and all kinds of music. She was also well versed at playing the accordion. She also enjoyed sailing, gardening, reading, driving, raising German Shepherds, and of course coffee ice cream. She enjoyed caring for people, she and her husband were a part of the Penndel Rescue Squad for many years. Barbara will forever be remembered and deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by five loving children, sons Robert (Arlene) Santhouse of Hammonton, NJ. Daniel (Paula) Santhouse of Pennsauken, NJ. daughters Claire (Brian) Cote of Ware, MA. Bethanie (John) Mascione of Levittown, PA. Kathleen (Jeff) Hale of Portsmouth, VA. Barbara's legacy also lives on through her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. During this time of mourning, her family and friends find solace in the memories they shared with Barbara. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved and cherished her. In accordance with Barb's wishes, a private funeral service will be held for the family at a later date.
