Claudia Buderman

Claudia Phifer Buderman passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2023 at 70 years old. Claudia is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Franny (Kevin Clair), and brother Howard. Claudia was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth and her father Howard. Claudia graduated from Pennsauken High School School in 1970 and Glassboro State College in 1974. She taught at Osage Elementary School in Voorhees Township for thirty two years. Claudia loved teaching and ensured her students felt safe and welcome in her classroom. She was passionate about the civil rights movement, and when she taught fifth grade she wrote and directed a play, performed by her students, on the life and times of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. One of her favorite activities was the creation of a "Read to A Dog" program to encourage reading in children. She, and her dog Dr. Seuss, would go to the Camden County Library where children, many who were reluctant readers, would read aloud to Dr. Seuss. Claudia was active in the New Jersey Education Association at the local, county, and state level and held multiple leadership positions. She also volunteered for the Democratic Party, running for Merchantville Borough Council in 1984. She visited Cape May, New Jersey, nearly annually, for almost 35 years, including her and Robert's honeymoon in 1979. The only years she missed were when she and Robert moved to Colorado to be closer to Franny. She loved dining at The Washington Inn and looking for small pink rocks at Sunset Beach, preferring these to the famous Cape May diamonds. She loved to spend time with her daughter Franny, husband Robert and the ever changing, and growing, menagerie of cats and dogs. She is survived by Comet, Slinky, Mango, and her beloved companion Biscuit. Her loving nature, empathy, sense of humor, and honesty will be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Rd, Pennsauken, NJ, from 2-4pm on February 13th, 2023.
