Deanie Geraldine Guggino

GUGGINO Geraldine "Deanie" Hussie Guggino, project manager for a video production and communications company in Merchantville, N.J., died of cancer on Sunday, October 31, at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 62. Born in Philadelphia and raised in suburban Jenkintown, she was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Chestnut Hill College, where as part of her studies she spent a year studying at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Following her graduation from college, she worked as a personnel manager for the National Park Service at Independence Square and the office of the Environmental Protection Agency in Philadelphia. In the early 1970s, she went into a new direction when she and her husband Tom Guggino formed a comedy act, "McAndrew and Gino," and moved to Los Angeles. After several year's of experience in the entertainment business, including writing projects for CBS television, they returned to the East Coast to form GPI Communications, which over the years provided video and consulting services for clients throughout the Philadelphia region with advertising, training and corporate communications services. She was a talented photographer who in the 1980s developed successful line of greeting cards using photos of children that sold 60, 000 copies over a period of five years. In her free time she was a passionate reader who belonged to the Moorestown Book Club, enjoyed New York Times crossword puzzles, and was a member of a Mahjong Club. She also enjoyed researching her family genealogy and tracking down details on her family history. While her children were attending Merchantville schools, she was active with the PTA and was a frequent volunteer who helped out with school theatrical and arts programs. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, Michael and David; a daughter, Alexandra; four brothers and three sisters. Memorial Visitation Friday 12:00 - 1:00 PM at Mary, Queen of All Saints Church St. Cecilia's , 4824 Camden Ave. Pennsauken NJ 08110. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, 118 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102 or to the ACLU.
