Elda Ranken

Elda E. Ranken, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 96, in her lifelong hometown of Pennsauken, NJ. Born on April 16, 1928, Elda's spirited soul and warm heart touched everyone she met throughout her remarkable life. Elda's journey began in Pennsauken, where she was a bright light from the start. Her life was one filled with love, as she was the devoted wife of the late Richard "West" Ranken, and together they shared an unbreakable bond until his passing. She was also predeceased by her cherished son, Richard, whose memory she held close to her heart. As a loving mother, Elda's nurturing spirit shone through in her relationships with her children, Elizabeth Ranken and Joseph "Joe" Ranken, and his wife Linda. Her role as a grandmother was one she embraced with joy and pride, always offering her wisdom and affection to her grandsons, Andrew and Matthew. Her family was the center of her universe, and she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her famous homemade Italian dishes Elda's sense of community extended beyond her family as she was an active and devoted member of St. Peter's Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through her many years and inspiring those around her with her unwavering commitment to her beliefs The kitchen was Elda's haven, where she expressed her love through the mastery of traditional Italian cuisine. Her homemade pasta and gravy were the highlights of family gatherings, and her Christmas cookies and delectable cheesecakes became the stuff of legend. Elda's Italian heritage was a source of immense pride, and she found joy in sharing her culinary creations with friends and family>Elda's zest for life extended far beyond the kitchen. She was an avid traveler, exploring the world and embracing new experiences with open arms. Pennsauken, NJ 08109 Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church in Merchantville ,NJ Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ.
