Elizabeth J. Aquila

AQUILA, ELIZABETH “Betty” J. (nee Ditsky) passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at her home in North Wildwood, NJ. She was 87. Predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Michael R. Aquila and sister, Rose. Survived by her loving three children, Jane Aquila, Elizabeth Aquila Egan, and Dr. Michael Aquila (Gita) and two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Michael. She is also survived by her brother Stephen and many nieces and nephews. Betty was born and raised in Lansford, PA. She was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Her love of nursing inspired a generation of family members to pursue careers in the health care profession. Her married years were lived in Philadelphia, PA and Westmont, NJ raising a loving family of 3 children. Betty and Mike enjoyed entertaining friends and family and were happiest hosting their annual Christmas open house. Betty was active in the Greater Wildwood Yacht Club serving in the past as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She cherished having her grandchildren visit her during the summer at the shore. Betty was extremely creative and took great pride in decorating her home and designing floral arrangements. She was also an excellent cook and baker, and enjoyed sharing specialty dishes including galumpkies and nut rolls handed down from her family. Her charitable nature was evident in her extensive volunteer work for Holy Savior Parish, Paul VI High School, St. Mary of the Angels Academy, Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, and Deborah Hospital. She was extraordinarily kind and giving, and lived her life guided by the principles of her abiding faith. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Holy Savior Church, 50 Emerald Ave., Westmont, NJ at noon. Visitation will held before from 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove, Rd., Pennsauken, NJ. Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ.
