Nicky Dorofee

Nicky S. Dorofee passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He fought hard against a prolonged illness, not willing to give up easily, but sadly he lost his battle. He filled his lifetime with unfaltering love and quiet kindness, and will be greatly missed. Nick was the cherished cornerstone of his family, leaving behind his beloved wife of almost 56 years, Margaret (Peggy) Dorofee, their daughters Michelle Calhoun (Kevin), Nicole Burak (Butch), and Megan Miller (Michael), and grandchildren Tyler and Ryan Calhoun, Xavier and Jacobi Miller, and Olivia and Avery Burak, to keep fond memories of him. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Deaner, his four brothers-in-law and their families, and several life long friends. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Wilma and Nicholas Dorofee, and his father-in-law, Charles Deaner. Born to Wilma (nee Mathews) and Nicholas Dorofee on November 20, 1944 in Vineland, NJ, Nick grew up there with his younger brother, Michael. After meeting his future wife in February 1966, and marrying in October 1967, he made his home in Pennsauken, NJ, living in the same house since 1972. He was a faithful husband and provider, a loving dad to his three daughters, very proud to be a Girl Dad, long before being a #girldad became popular, and a doting, hands-on PawPaw to his grandchildren. After high school, Nick went to a technical school for engineering and was quickly recruited by Boeing Helicopters. He spent his entire 50 plus year career as a dedicated Boeing employee, until they finally forced him to retire in 2015. In his downtime, Nick enjoyed the outdoors (hunting, fishing, and camping, in particular), and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Loved by his family, friends, and everyone who crossed his path, Nick's memory will be treasured and his life cherished by those who knew him. Per the family's preference, there will be no services at this time.
