Philip Morgan

Philip Stone Morgan, Sr. passed away surrounded by his children, on November 29, 2023 at 8:45am. He was 89 years old. Philip S. Morgan, Sr. was born in Pottsville, PA on the 13th of March 1934 to Earl and Georjean Morgan. Philip Morgan, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Newt and Earl, and his son Kenneth. Philip Morgan, Sr. attended Pottsville Catholic High School where he graduated in 1952. While in Pottsville, PA, he was a member of the West End Hose Company. Before being drafted into the US Army, Philip married his wife Patricia (nee Bercik) in 1956. They remained happily married for 67 years. They had five children, the late Kenneth Morgan, Denise Wallace, Karen Morgan, Beth (Scott) Zimmerman, and Philip (Gail) Morgan, Jr. Philip moved to Camden, NJ with his wife, Patricia, in 1959 and worked for RCA Company until 1970. Philip later moved his family to Pennsauken while he worked for the Advance Process and Supply Company on River Road until it closed in 1994. One of the highlights of his retired years was enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren's sports, dance recitals, and other activities. He was also a lifelong Pottsville/Washington Redskins and Brooklyn/LA Dodgers fan. If anyone was ever looking for Phil, he could always be found "up the hall" on Elm Ave. volunteering with the Pennsauken Youth Athletic Association (PYAA) for 50 years; 25 years as the President of the organization. Starting out as a T-Ball coach, Phil was a gentle and soft spoken man who worked tirelessly for the children of Pennsauken. He also enjoyed the company of the great volunteers of PYAA. In 2000, Phil was awarded a Camden County Community Service Award for his 30 years of volunteer service, and the Lions Club Citizen of the Year in 2017 for his dedication and service to Pennsauken Township. Philip S. Morgan, Sr. is survived by his wife, four children, his sister Reta Benensky, brother David Morgan, grand children: Steven Wallace (Carolyn), James Wallace (Shannon), Jennifer Bremer (Michael), Ben Zimmerman, Jessica Rutkowsky, Christian Morgan, Madison Morgan, and Sydney Zimmerman, and great grandchildren: Jayne, Evan, Audrey, Alex, and Nathaniel, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss Mr. Morgan, Phil, Pops, Dad, Grandpop, and Poppy very much.
