Ramon S. Rodriguez Age 75, of Camden, NJ Passed away on July 7, 2013. Beloved husband of Elsa nee Olmo and dear father of Ivonne Gabriel Ortiz. Mr. Rodriguez was a retired cook for Red, Hot & Blue Restaurant in Cherry Hill. Relatives and friends of the family are kindly invited to attend his Visitation Friday 9-11 AM at Mary, Queen of All Saints Church, 4824 Camden Ave. Pennsauken NJ 08110. Followed by Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM. Interment private. This unhappy situation has brought me to tears. When I woke up to this sad news, I didn't really know what to say, I didn't know what to think. Things like this aren't supposed to happen to people I know.. They aren't supposed to happen to my family. Not mine at all. I saw you but two weeks ago, and even though you didn't remember quite who I was... I still remember the times we had. When I was little and Yaya would babysit me... You'd come home from work and smell like BBQ. You would say hello to me with a big smile, and I to you. Then you would eat dinner and watch T.V in the kitchen; and after your dinner you would come to the living room, sit on your recliner and watch T.V with me for a little while... that was until you asked me for the remote and decided to change the channel on me, haha. That's just it, isn't it Tio? Those times are the most recent memories I have of you and it makes me sad to know that. Because as I got older things in our family kind of turned grey and then I stopped coming around and then you started getting sick. So the things I would hear about you would be just that... by word of mouth. I'm sorry I wasn't there more. Even though I didn't see you all the time... I love you, so much. And I'm going to miss your smile the most because it was super contagious and it always made ME smile. This is a lot to take in because I haven't lost anyone in my family since I was about six years old and being that young I didn't understand what it was to have someone pass away, really. When Grandpop Juan passed away I remember being at the viewing and asking my mom if he could hear us... or if he was just asleep... or if he was breathing. Everyone was crying and I didn't know why. - And why was my grandfather lying in a wooden chest? And why was everyone so quiet? I didn't know what was going on, but see this time is different. This time it hurts. This time I feel what all of you guys are feeling, it might be on a different level, but I feel it. Something like this can stir up a lot of different things. Like how you don't realize what you had until it isn't there to hold anymore... or how maybe I could have spent more time with Tio Ramon, but I didn't. How it stinks to have very little memories made with my own uncle and how now I'll never have the opportunity to make any more. But I'll always remember. I'll always remember that face and I'll always remember that smile. And how when ever we'd walk in he'd be sitting right there in his recliner with a big "HI" and that happy face. To my wonderful Ivonne, I am so sorry for your loss. Words will never be enough to tell you how much I love you. Please know that when I'm not right by your side that I'm always here for you in any way that you need me. I love you so much I really do. You mean so much to me.
